Amala Gameela – Beautiful Bird

Amala Gameela is a talented and passionate Middle Eastern dance artist based in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. She specializes in folkloric Middle Eastern dance and Egyptian cabaret. She began studying Middle Eastern belly dance in Stroudsburg, PA and continues to study with accomplished professionals from the United States and Egypt including Mahmoud Reda, Farida Fahmy, Raqia Hassan, Aisha Ali, Faten Salama, Yousry Sharif, Mohamed Shahin, Gamila El Masri, Anahid Sofian, Habiba, and many more.
Amala Gameela regularly performs throughout the tri-state area, at various festivals, restaurants, weddings, and private parties.

Amala Gameela BellydancingShe has also performed in Virginia, Florida, Texas and been featured at resorts in Peru and Costa Rica. Her beautiful and exciting performances range from mysterious and enchanting to delicate and flirty to fast paced and energetic. Amala Gameela also conducts weekly classes, private lessons, and workshops in the Lehigh Valley.

Amala Gameela Dance InstructorShe is a core member of Embers & Emerald, an award winning Bellydance Troupe based in Easton, PA who delights audiences with colorful displays of both traditional and modern Middle Eastern music and dance. Amala Gameela was selected by Gamila El Masri, a legendary dancer of NYC, to dance in her newest production, Night of the Hareem in Manhattan. She has also been recently invited to dance with Mohammed Shahin of Egypt and excited to assist with Touchstone Theatre’s new production, “Tales of the Middle East.”

As a tremendous lover of birds and wildlife, Amala Gameela has sponsors workshops and professional shows geared toward donations for non-profit wildlife organizations. She earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Environmental Studies from East Stroudsburg University and currently works as a Lead Conservation Educator at an AZA accredited zoo. Her passion for parrots brought her to the remote jungle of Manu, Peru, where she spent two months working to save fledgling Scarlet Macaws as well as studying tropical ornithology in Costa Rica. Amala Gameela continues to volunteer and assist wildlife rehabilitation centers, conservation groups, and parrot organizations across the world.
